Waiting for Better

Tim and I have been hunting for an RV because we want to take the kids out to camp but still have a place where we can continue working on our business in comfort. Can I hear an “Amen!” from all you glampers out there?! I love camping but there are just some basic amenities that a girl has gotta have!

Anyway, we had been doing the RV hunt and found a great RV that we were really excited about and we actually paid a deposit for it. We looked around at camping sites where we could have the RV parked. We really wanted to be at Yogi Bear park because that is just our dream camping location. Sadly, they were all booked for the season so we thought about other camps in Nova Scotia that we could park at.

Instead, we chose to wait another year before investing in an RV because we really were not sold on the location of other campsites. Our dream is to have a site at Yogi Bear Park.  Instead of rushing into a big financial purchase like this one and compromising on our dream location, we chose to wait a year until we could work everything out.

Do you remember me talking about not being too impulsive in last weeks blog post? (Check it out here!) Well, I do from time to time have very impulsive urges and Tim is always there to bring me back down to earth! We don’t want to be impulsive with our spending habits and we want to make sure that we are setting ourselves up for an amazing RV “glamping” experience.

Sometimes there are things in life that are worth waiting for. For us, it is worth it to wait until a spot at Yogi Bear park is open so that our kids can experience camp at our favourite campsite. If you find that you’re an impulsive person like me, take a step back every now and then when you are making major decisions and be sure to ask yourself: “Am I compromising on what I really want in order to have something now?” If the answer is yes, then you should take the time to figure out what it is you really want and then work towards that. Don’t compromise! If you are always compromising on what you really want in order to have something immediately, you could be setting yourself up for disappointment in the long run because you didn’t get what you really wanted.

I put Yogi Bear Park and our RV up on my dream board so that I could look at it and be reminded that it is going to be something I work towards this year and then next year when we are parking our new RV in a campsite at Yogi Bear, we’ll be celebrating even more than if we had gone somewhere else!! We’ll be proud of ourselves for working towards our goals and achieving them.

My dream board keeps my top priorities in front of me and motivates me towards what I really want to achieve. I don’t let anyone tell me that the things on my dream board are not achievable. Everything is possible, it may take a while to get there and maybe you’ll have to wait an extra year before you get what you really want but in the long run you’ll not only get what you really wanted, but you’ll also look back on the process of working towards that and be proud of the journey. It’s worth it.
