Do What You Love

When I first got successful in my Monat business, I was 37 years old. Many times I find that people expect to start a stable career right out of school and can then rely on a steady climb to the top from there. People so easily feel discouraged when they haven’t found that ‘spark’ which helps them thrive each day as they work. I know of some 28-year-olds who feel like a failure because they haven’t got things figured out or they don’t feel like they’ve got their life together yet. In my mind I’m just thinking; “but you’ve got SO MUCH life ahead of you!!!”

Well, good news! I’m here to show you proof that you don’t have to have it all figured out in your twenties and you certainly don’t have to be stuck in a job you hate. I love the fact that part of my story includes many failures and struggles throughout my twenties and mid-thirties. These struggles and experiences have made me who I am today and I am thriving in my business because of it!

When you look at your life and you wonder what you can do to make a difference, don’t ever think that you’re too old to make a change or that you have to wait until all your ducks are in a row before you can pursue the things you love. Sometimes you may not see the success right away, sometimes it may take almost two decades before you find that job that makes you thrive, but never give up on what you love.

Now, I’m going to turn it around on you: I just said never give up on what you love and that is true. It is SO SO true. But I also am going to tell you this: never be afraid to try new things. I wouldn’t be here today, working with Monat (and crushing it!) if I had only said to myself “No I only do the things that I know and love.” Monat did not fit into my plan of things that I love at the time when I first heard about it. But because I think it is equally important to never be afraid to try new things, I decided to give Monat a chance.

It turns out, Monat is something that I love as well and I never would have learned that if I wasn’t willing to make a change. So, as you go about your day today and you think about where you’re at in life and the things you want to accomplish, ask yourself this: What do I love and hope for in my future? And, What is something I could try that is new but might be a great opportunity for change in my life? I think you’ll find that these two things really walk hand in hand and can open your eyes to a whole bunch of new things you didn’t even know you loved!
